Eric Holder Statement on Minnesota Court’s Final Congressional, State Legislative Maps

Washington, D.C.— Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, released the following statement in response to a Minnesota state court’s adoption of final congressional and state legislative maps in an impasse lawsuit supported by the National Redistricting Action Fund (NRAF), the 501(c)(4) affiliate of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC):

“The maps selected by the court are fair results. In the end, no one got everything they wanted, and the lines reflect necessary compromise. These maps ensure that the will of Minnesotans, as well as their diverse needs and interests, will be accurately represented in Congress and the Minnesota Legislature. They also ensure that Minnesota will remain competitive for the next decade, and where Democrats can compete in a fair system they can win.”
