Ohio Supreme Court Strikes Down Commission’s Third Set of State Legislative Maps

Washington, D.C. --  Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, released the following statement in response to the Ohio Supreme Court striking down the Ohio Redistricting Commission’s third set of gerrymandered state legislative maps, which were redrawn in response to a previous state Supreme Court order:

“The Republican commissioners arrogantly thought they could force Ohio’s highest court into accepting their obviously unconstitutional gerrymanders, and they have once again been proven wrong. The Ohio Supreme Court ordering the commission to hire an independent map drawer to ensure a transparent process and bipartisan agreement is a promising step. Now it is up to the Republican commissioners to stop the partisan insanity and finally do their jobs to draw fair maps as required by the constitution and the court. It’s simple really: DO YOUR JOBS!”
